You feel like you were made for more than this (whatever this is), because you were.

Remember on The Office, when Pam is describing wanting a house with a terrace where she can plant flowers? “But, dreams,” she says, are just that. “They get you through the day… The dream about the house is nice, but it’s impractical. They don’t even make houses like that in Scranton.”

Oof. That moment hits me hard every time I watch it.

You’ve been there too. You have a beautiful dream: space to create and grow. A job that you’re excited to go to. A sense of belonging. Trust in your own inner wisdom. Protected time to indulge in the activities that light you up: roller skating, weaving, or playing the piano.

You want to invite people into your inner world and have them be delighted by what they see within you.

Sure, on the surface, your life is totally fine. You work, you take care of your family and friends, you enjoy your relationships and your hobbies. But you also lie awake at night rehashing frustrating conversations where you didn’t feel heard. You’re overwhelmed with commitments, feeling drained by them, not energized. But you can’t let anyone down, so you just keep going.

Your personal responsibilities take up a lot of your energy and mental space. And on top of that, we are all living in a world with oppressive systems, a volatile political environment, and fear of what’s around the corner—be it a natural disaster, rising cost of living, or the next executive order.

OK, so maybe it’s not totally fine. It’s actually a lot. Really a lot. And if you’re being honest, you’re secretly wondering if this is the best you can hope for.

Imagine feeling rooted, radiant, and free.

We’ve been domesticated by the systems that we live in. The hierarchies of patriarchy, white supremacy, heterosexism, ableism, capitalism (and so many more) function best when we as individuals tune out our desire and say, “dreams are nice. They help us get through the day. But they're impractical.”

But your unease and dissatisfaction are telling a different story. You know that you weren’t born to be tame, to not ruffle any feathers. You have a spark in you that feels a lot more like a powerful wolf than an anxious pet. And it’s my firm belief that tapping into your desire will support you in finding more meaning and deeper, more satisfying connections in your life.

This is where spiritual counseling comes in.

I’ll be your Emotional Support Witch as you sift through the metaphorical attic of beliefs you’ve inherited and collected throughout your journey. As you open up those boxes and pull out old memories and dreams, I’ll listen to the stories attached to them. Together, we’ll talk through what you’d like to keep, transform, give away, or set on fire.

And one day, you’ll look around and notice that you can’t remember the last time you censored yourself in a conversation with your partner. And they’ve actually become more open with you in turn. It’s been months since the last time you took on your coworkers’ responsibilities. And you’re noticing that you enjoy your colleagues more now that you aren’t feeling so resentful. And you’ve been practicing allowing people to feel frustrated when you don’t cater to their preferences. And that has been its own source of grief, but it feels right at the same time.

This is the good life. Not because it’s easy. Not because all your problems and the world’s problems have gone away, but because your life is made to fit you, rather than trying to fit yourself into your prescribed roles.

And as a bonus, other people around you are noticing and doing the same thing for themselves. You haven’t abandoned your loved ones; you’ve modeled a new dynamic where everyone gets to be more of themselves.

Ready to unleash your inner wild one?

In our one-on-one sessions, we’ll combine counseling and coaching. Counseling is designed to help you process and heal from past experiences. We’ll talk about those times you were silenced by a religious leader, asked to keep secrets on behalf of family members, told what you could not or would not ever have the job or relationships you were made for, or were shamed for your anger.

And we’ll do some coaching as well, which tends to be more now- and future-focused. You’ll dream about what kind of life you want to invent for yourself, one that you’ll invite your loved ones and community to join you in. You’ll explore how you might feel more connected to nature, your ancestors, or your higher power to orient yourself away from the demands of the systems we live in and toward what’s most meaningful to you.

One step at a time, you’ll shift your energy away from shoulds and toward what gives you life and supports your connection with yourself and others. You’ll linger over dinner with friends instead of replying to work emails. You’ll renegotiate chores with your partner to give yourself an extra hour in your garden one morning a week. You’ll quit the soul-sucking volunteer committee and replace it with walking shelter dogs.

Life is just too short and too precious to let a sense of obligation take precedence over what truly lights you up.

“Working with Annie is a deeply personal and meaningful experience. Her ability to hold space, combined with her intuitive insights, made me feel supported and understood.”

Here’s exactly what you get with Spiritual Counseling sessions.

spiritual therapist

A safe space to feel, grieve, experiment, and play.

Sessions last 60 minutes

Plenty of time to hit pause on your busy day and dedicate some focused time to creating the life you desire.

We’ll meet virtually on Google Meet

No matter where you are in the world, we can work together! And you can be in a space that feels personal and comfortable to you.

You’ll choose how many sessions and how often

There’s no requirement to book a bundle of three, five, or ten sessions, because I want you to have the flexibility to feel your way through the process. We’ll go one session at a time so that you can tap into what you need and what pace feels supportive to you.

If you’re looking for some guidance, most people like to meet once every two to four weeks so that they can have some time to digest and integrate what we talked about in the session, but not so long that they lose momentum in their practice.

We’ll spend our time talking, reflecting, and practicing

I don’t use a set curriculum or formula for our time together. My job is to hold space, ask questions, and offer suggestions, so that you have a safe, supportive place to practice tapping into your desire and hearing your intuition.

I’ll create a Session Hub for you in Notion

This is where you’ll find a few key notes on what we talked about in our session, links to any resources that came up, and practices for you to play with. This frees you up during sessions to just be in the moment without having to write anything down.

You choose your session fee

Because of my commitment to anti-capitalism, my session fees are on a sliding scale. Read about the three price tiers and see what resonates most with your financial situation. You’ll choose your rate before your first session.

Tier 1 / $140

I’m financially comfortable. I can regularly afford extras like eating out, subscriptions, travel, and event tickets. I’ll pay it forward and help offset the cost for others who are struggling.

Tier 2 / $125

I feel financial stress at times, but I regularly manage to pay my bills. I may need to cut back on some extras to budget for spiritual counseling sessions, but I’ve got it covered.

Tier 3 / $90

I don’t have financial reserves and/or I have looming debt. I’m choosing to invest in spiritual counseling sessions, but I welcome some assistance.

This tier structure was adapted from Kimberly Hock, who was inspired and directly informed by the work of Alexis J.Cunninfolk and Yvette of Inner Flow Somatic Counseling.

I am honored whenever a current client refers someone else to me! In thanks, after your referral has their first session, you will get 20% off your next session. You can refer as many people as you like (and please do! The more the merrier!). You’ll get 20% off one session each time.

Coming home to myself (and helping you do the same).

I’m Annie and I’m so happy to be here with you.

I grew up in a very rigid religious environment and I spent the first couple of decades of my life (and then some) trying to be a Good Christian Girl. As you may have also experienced, it didn’t get me anything I was promised. And there were many years that I felt betrayed, afraid, lonely, and incredibly angry.

Eventually, and with a lot of trial and error, I learned that I didn’t actually need to fix myself or be more agreeable or less angry. Those were things other people wanted me to be so they would be more comfortable. But I wasn’t made to cater to other people’s comfort. And neither were you.

I needed to learn to trust my desires and listen to what they were leading me to. More rest. More walks in the woods. Deeper conversations with friends. Clearer boundaries around work. More delicious meals savored with loved ones.

And that’s what I want for you, too.

Curious about my credentials?

I have a Master of Divinity (MDiv) from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. I’ve worked as a hospital chaplain and sexual assault counselor and I facilitated psycho-educational groups at a domestic violence agency. My favorite roles have always been when I get to sit with people in their story, processing grief, and sharing in joy.

“Annie is warm, thoughtful, and welcoming—she also has an amazing sense of humor and isn't afraid to ask hard questions. I would welcome her companionship on any spiritual journey.”

Jess H.

I know it feels risky to want more.

You’ve adopted certain roles in your family, your workplace, your friend groups, in the spaces you volunteer, on your kickball team, and at book club. You’re the reliable one. The one who remembers to bring snacks and stays late to clean up. You listen to other people’s heartache without being asked about your own.

And you know that if your desire, your inner wild one, leads you to take up space differently—to not be the planner, the comforter, or the fixer—there will be some backlash.

There can be a significant relational cost to living authentically. But I think you’ve read this far because you’re already feeling the significant costs of staying in the status quo. So I invite you to take this process one step at a time. It’s all any of us can do! I’ll be there with you through the hard parts.

FAQ

  • Our work together will focus on your spirituality rather than your mental health. We may talk about some of the things you would talk about with your therapist: family stories, spiritual or religious trauma, or difficult relationship dynamics. And so this work may feel therapeutic. But I am not a licensed mental health therapist and I don’t diagnose or treat mental health concerns.

If you are concerned about your mental health, I strongly encourage you to see a licensed therapist in addition to seeking spiritual counseling. If it is too costly to do both at once, I recommend seeing a therapist first to prioritize your mental health and well-being. Once you feel like you’re in a good place mentally, I would love for you to circle back for spiritual counseling!

  • I will keep our conversations confidential. However, if you disclose to me that you have plans to hurt yourself or another person, or you disclose the abuse of a minor or a vulnerable adult, I will make a report to the appropriate agencies for the safety of all people concerned.

  • No problem at all! I’m here to support you in tapping into your desire, listening to your intuition, and encouraging you on your own journey. And your journey doesn’t have to look like mine or anyone else’s.

I have clients who have left organized religion, those who are happily in it, and those who want to go back to it. And even for folks who aren’t interested in organized religion, it doesn’t mean they’re a tree-hugging witch like me. Our sessions will be fully geared toward discovering and honoring what is most meaningful to you.

  • I don’t believe it’s selfish to follow our desires, but I know that it can feel that way because of the oppressive systems we live in. Often, partners, kids, parents, friends, pastors, colleagues, bosses, or neighbors might have a hard time with the changes we’re making in our lives. They feel the disruption and try to stop it by saying things like, “You’re being selfish.”

If this does come up for you, we can work through it in our sessions. We can think through specific objections and consider whether this person or relationship is actually being harmed. Or are they feeling disappointed and frustrated?

If they’re being harmed, that’s a great reason to change course. If they’re feeling uncomfortable emotions, that is not harm. And in that case, there may be an opportunity to advocate for what you need and negotiate new ways of being with this person that don’t require forfeiting your desire.

  • I’m hesitant to suggest a specific length of time because that depends on you, what you want to work on, and how you’re experiencing your journey.

Depending on what you’re hoping for, I suggest you plan to meet regularly for six months and check in with yourself along the way. Change is gradual and your experience is unique. So just be gentle with yourself as you feel your way through it.

And I’d be happy to talk through this with you on our discovery call as well.

  • Most people like to meet once every 2-4 weeks. This gives you enough time to integrate what we talked about in our session and experiment with new practices without losing momentum on your goals. But there are no rules! You are in control of when you book your sessions.

  • Absolutely! You may find that you have enough tools to practice with and want to take a break from meeting to see how things go. Or maybe you start sessions and find it just isn’t the right time. You are welcome to take a break any time and come back at any time. Just let me know that you’re starting or stopping and I’ll be cheering for you regardless.

If it has been more than a year since our last session, I’ll ask you to fill out a new intake form before our next session just to get a sense of what’s new with you.

  • You’ll choose your rate before our first session, based on your financial situation, but of course, things change! If you need to switch to a different tier, please let me know before your next session.

That said, I request that clients change their tier no more than once a year, so please choose the tier that best fits your situation overall. We all have occasional big expenses (the car is in the shop, it’s back-to-school season), so choosing or changing your rate should not be in response to something momentary.

A change in your overall situation would be more like a job loss (go to a lower tier) or paying off debt (change to a higher tier).

  • Like all business owners, I occasionally need to increase my rates due to rising expenses. I evaluate my fees once a year and I notify current clients in September if there are any changes. New rates, if any, take effect on November 1, to give clients time to adjust.

  • Because I prepare for our sessions in advance and hold the time specifically for you, please give at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. If you give less than 24 hours' notice, the first time is free, because life happens! However, for subsequent late cancellations, I charge half of your session rate as a cancellation fee.

For no-shows, I charge the full session fee after the first one.

Are you ready to take the next step toward living the life you truly desire?

witch therapist

Imagine life six months from now. You have continued on as you always have in your activities and relationships, no major changes. How might you feel? Will you still be carrying the same frustrations? What regrets do you think you will have?

What if, instead, over the next six months, you give yourself the gift of spiritual counseling? You prioritize making space to listen to your deepest desires—and cultivate the courage to honor them. What might open up for you? A stronger sense of confidence. Boundaries that feel natural and respected. More joy, more ease, more freedom to be fully yourself.

This is the future waiting for you.
