Deep peace of the dark moon to you

What Have You Sown in this Past Season?

August’s sturgeon moon has set. And with it, the mighty sturgeon have descended back into deep water to feed, grow, and procreate until next summer, when they will rise to the surface again. Tonight we pause to reflect on the coming harvest season and the rising of the harvest moon. Whether we have paid attention and done so mindfully, or even if we haven’t, we have all been sowing something - or somethings - over this past season. That could be in our work, our relationships, our creative pursuits, our emotional internal work, our spirituality. It could be a literal garden we’ve been cultivating.

Whatever it is and however we have tended to it, we have a harvest to honor and to be grateful for. If you need a little support in identifying what that is, that’s what tonight’s practice is all about.

Tarot for the Harvest Moon

Reflecting

  • How was this experience of reading tarot cards as a tool for reflection?

  • What is something you’re grateful to be harvesting in this season? And does that gratitude feel easy for you to access? Is it difficult?

  • Who is someone in your life that you want to continue this conversation with as you reflect on the Harvest Moon?

Suggested Practices

  • Write down something that you want to release in this season and (safely!) burn it, bury it, or release it in a body of water.

  • Pull a tarot or oracle card every day for a week and make note of any themes that emerge.

  • Sketch a plant in your home or neighborhood.

  • Gather with friends and toast what you each are personally harvesting in this season.

Closing

Whatever is yours to sow, release it! Whatever is yours to reap, take it in and enjoy it. Whatever needs to lie fallow, give it a rest.
